What have I been doing this summer? Not writing on my blog obviously. I have been a bit lazy with the hot weather we have in Phoenix. I am grateful that my life drawing group is consistent and I do keep that appointment every week. This is an acrylic on paper of one of our models. I was really please that I kept loose...suggestive, colorful...I am trying to convey the person without too tight or realistic of an approach.
There have been few trips outside to paint, but I did paint this scene that I saw while traveling through the grasslands of Arizona. I like the long format of this canvas. I did this one with acrylic. Can't wait to make it outside on a regular basis again.

City Streets and Freeway Paintings
Here is a shot of the installation of my city streets and freeway paintings. This show of a dozen works will hang for 3 months at the Bistro located in the Beatitudes Campus in Phoenix. It is a really nice venue for the big pieces. The largest is 4x5 feet.

Painting of the Woods
This 30x40" acrylic "Into the Woods" was painted after a trip to Sedona. It was accepted into the Glendale Art Council show.
Downtown Painting
This 24x24" acrylic "Downtown" will be in the AAG Statewide Exhibit at the Glendale Westgate Gallery. I tried to keep the painting fairly loose. The yellow sky was an arbitrary decision. The painting seemed to call for that color, but moreover I think it describes the hot and smoggy atmosphere that often hangs over cities.
